Four competitors from Odisha bagged four gold and two silver and one bronze medals in the Subrat Classic International Powerlifting Championship, which was held at Jamshedpur from January 4 to 9. Among the medal winners, Pradeep Patra captured the gold in senior men 66kg open category, lifting 185kg in squat, 112.5kg in benchpress and 215kg in deadlift for a total of 512.5kg.
Chandra Mohan Bisoi (Rayagada) also secured gold in master-three 74kg open group. He lifted 90kg in squat, 50kg in benchpress and 80kg in deadlift for a total of 220kg. Bisoi went on to capture two more gold medals in benchpress and deadlift events.
Asohok Prasad settled with the silver medal in senior men 120kg open event with efforts of 220kg in squat, 130kg in benchpress and 160kg in deadlift for a total of 510kg.
Om Swarup Mohanty (Khurda) grabbed one silver in senior men 105kg deadlift and one bronze in benchpress events. Odisha Powerlifting Association secretary Chitta Ranjan Swain contratulated the medalists for their achievements.
